JOB OBJECTIVES/PURPOSE:
To ensure that the organization conducts its business processes in compliance with laws and regulations, professional standards, international standards, and accepted business practices.
Identifying and assessing a broad array of risks that could negatively impact the achievement of institutional goals and objectives.
KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS:
Responsibilities:
Risk
1. Ensure that the company has an approved written risk management policy, which is consistent with the Institution’s business strategies, capital strength and management expertise.
2. Ensure that the company has an approved risk appetite statement, and that this appetite is communicated through the Institution and included within the risk reporting templates
3. Establish a culture within the Institution that emphasizes their commitment to internal controls, risk management and high ethical standards.
4. Work with internal audit to ensure that the risk-based audit approach taken is not susceptible to gaps in the risk management process. As part of the continuous improvement loop, participate in internal audit finding reviews to help identify areas of exiting or potential risk to be addressed.
5. Help build best practice to enforce a pro-active approach towards credit approval, monitoring, reporting and control in order to maintain the credit portfolio within acceptable quality parameters.
6. Consult with relevant units to determine, quantify, and mitigate risks involved in establishing and maintaining various client and industry relationships
7. Responsible for assessing metrics and monitoring procedures the organization has set to police transactional risks.
8. Maintain up to date risk register for the company.
9. Perform risk assessment on all new contract or project
Compliance
1. Develop and implement compliance models required for the company to operate within acceptable standards.
2. Liaise with senior managers to ensure proper implementation of established compliance policies.
3. Review internal policies to ensure they align with Bank of Ghana regulations.
4. Conduct research to identify new regulations passed by the state or governing bodies.
5. Initiate or recommend an investigative process in response to complaints of policy or procedural violation.
6. Monitor the operations and procedures of all units/departments to ensure overall compliance.
7. Carry out assessments to identify areas of potential compliance risks in order to implement preventive/corrective strategies to address compliance issues
8. Provide reports on a regular basis to Head of ARC on update on progress of compliance operations.
9. Organize compliance programs to educate staff on recent and already existing compliance requirements

11. Perform any other duties that are required and commensurate with the job's grade and title.
